Run Hog Wild Inspired! – Matthew Waldner

We’re still running wild with excitement over how wonderful this year’s race weekend was! All  the runners, volunteers, and community members never stop amazing us with their support and dedication to making the Grand Forks Marathon a must-attend event.

One runner in particular this year made sure not to miss out on the action, whether he was able to be in the red river valley or not! Matthew Waldner refused to let his deployment interfere with participating in the race this year and completed the half marathon virtually where he was stationed.

“Couldn’t help but think of the Grand Forks course while I was running and where I would be at each mile marker – like going into the park or crossing each bridge, and then of course the long straight-away back to the finish line,” Waldner recalled while also wishing everyone in Grand Forks the best race day possible.

We’re honored to have such dedicated runners who will stop at nothing to be a part of the magic that is race weekend. A special thank you to Matthew Waldner, bib #1184, for inspiring us all to continuing doing what it takes to #RunHogWild!
